About Boomalli
Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Co-operative, established in 1987, is the longest-running Aboriginal-owned and run arts organisation in NSW. Meaning “to strike; to make a mark” in Bundjalung, Gamilaroi and Wiradjuri languages, Boomalli supports and promotes NSW language group artists through exhibitions, a gallery, studio, and retail space in Leichhardt. Operated under a co-operative structure, senior artists mentor emerging voices, creating a safe and inclusive space for storytelling, creativity, and community connection.
Boomalli is located in Leichhardt, opposite Leichhardt Marketplace (15–20 minutes from Sydney CBD). The gallery is accessible by public transport: Light Rail (Marion St, 9 min walk), Train (Lewisham Station, 12 min walk), and multiple bus routes along Flood St, Marion St and Parramatta Rd.
All gallery spaces are wheelchair accessible via a mobility lift at the front entrance, with step-free access throughout. An accessible toilet is located at the rear of the gallery.
